The SCION Association is a non-profit organisation driving transformation of the Internet infrastructure. It enables highly available, trustworthy, transparent, efficient, and affordable communication; ensuring reliable and secure transport of data throughout global networks.
The Association promotes collaboration within the ecosystem, sharing know-how with its members, facilitating open source development, while enabling that implementations are reliable, secure, and interoperable thanks to standardisation and a certification program.
Uli Sigg, an entrepreneur and former Swiss diplomat, is supporting the SCION Association as a founding member, together with ETH Zurich, the SNB, and the SIX Group. The Association is headquartered in Lucerne and is a recognized ETH spinoff. The Association board includes Prof. Vanessa Wood, Vice President for Knowledge Transfer and Corporate Relations at ETH Zurich, Dr. Andréa Maechler, Member of the Governing Board of the Swiss National Bank, Uli Sigg, Prof. Reto Francioni, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Swiss International Airlines and former Chairman of Deutsche Börse AG, and Dr. Thomas Wellauer, Chairman of the Board of SIX Group. Patrick Naef and Marcel Keller are co-CEOs of the Association.
The SCION Association is now open for membership to entities interested in SCION. The Association is further supported by an Advisory Board with top-level, global experts and executives, chaired by Professor Perrig.

The Association brings innovation developed at ETH Zurich to the market, making SCION research widely available.
The Association nurtures the growth of a global SCION ecosystem, promotes open source and open standards that allow anyone to succeed, making SCION accessible to everyone. The Association defines and promotes standards so that implementations are reliable, secure, and interoperable.
In 2022 CEO Patrick Naef and prof. Vanessa Wood of ETH Zürich announce the effort to establish the SCION Association.
