USE OF UTM TAGS BY EVENT SPONSORS
The SCION Day 2024 event features a comprehensive communication campaign across multiple platforms, including our webpage, emails, and social media. This campaign prominently displays a list of our event sponsors, with each sponsor’s logo or name hyperlinked to their respective webpages. To analyze the effectiveness of these promotional efforts, we track these links using UTM tags.
UTM tags (Urchin Tracking Module tags) are simple code snippets added to URLs that allow us to track the effectiveness of online marketing campaigns across traffic sources and publishing media. They do not collect personally identifiable information.
How We Use UTM Tags: We use UTM tags to direct visitor traffic from our website, emails or more to our event sponsors’ webpages. These tags help us facilitate the measurement of traffic for our sponsors, enabling them to analyze the effectiveness of their participation in our events.
Ownership and Access to Data Collected by UTM Tags: Please note that while we implement UTM tags on our website and other communications, we do not own or access the data collected through these tags. All data collected by UTM tags, including information about traffic sources, mediums, and campaign performance, is exclusively accessed and owned by our sponsors. We provide the technical means for data collection but do not store, review, or analyze this data.
The types of non-personal data collected via UTM tags include:
Source: The origin of the traffic (e.g., our website or newsletter). Medium: The method used to access our sponsors’ websites (e.g., banner, email link). Campaign: The specific event or promotion directing the traffic (e.g., annual conference).
Purpose of Data Collection by Sponsors: This data collection helps our sponsors measure the effectiveness of their marketing efforts related to our events. It assists them in understanding the impact of their investment and helps tailor future marketing strategies.
Data Sharing and Privacy: The data collected through UTM tags is for the exclusive analytical use of our sponsors and does not include any personally identifying information. Our role is limited to facilitating the collection of this data, and we ensure that all sponsor activities comply with our privacy standards and relevant legislation.
