Q2 2025 Open source update

There has been significant work to optimise the I/O performance of the SCIONproto router and to allow it to be run utilizing eBPF and XDP in future. Dependencies have also been updated to remove reliance on some outdated libraries, and optimisation of MTUs is being undertaken to limit and prevent packet fragmentation.

The SCION virtual lab that allows test ASes and a CA to be set-up and run within an ISD, can now be automatically created within a Docker environment thereby allowing users to experiment with SCION. In addition, the development environment has been updated and fully documented so that it’s now easier to build code as well as run on Apple M-series hardware.
